CommTECH Nusantara 2022: Celebrating diverse cultures

Two countries separated by distance but bound by a common thread of cultural preservation & promotion and diversity celebration. Resembling the Batik motifs of Indonesia (specifically the Megamendung [Photos 1-2]), the murals artistically display vividness around the city center. The City Historical and Cultural Center of Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Philippines houses the museum which heaves the connection of the past to the present showcasing the four tribes and its rich cultural heritage; the artsy city public library where knowledge-sharing and cultivation has been its goal; the Tagumpay (which stands for “success”) Theatre where shows are staged and independent films are shown; and the Sentro Rizal Gallery which memorializes the heroism of the Philippine hero, Jose Rizal (Photo 3). Further, it promotes itself as a popular home to the region's Musikahan (Musical) Festival by exhibiting its richness through a doodle art near the outdoor stage where performances are mounted. With the celebration of diversity, people of all races come together to honor life and friendship in all of its forms (Photo 5).
